Information You Send
Search Terms
Type a name or location into a search box. It travels straight to the third-party provider running that search. Nothing gets stored on this end. The provider's own privacy terms govern what happens to the query once it arrives.
Messages and Contact Details
Messages and contact submissions are a different matter. Those get kept just long enough to read and answer. They go nowhere outside the organization. The exceptions are few: the law demands it, valid legal process requires it, or the safety of the service and its users is at stake.
Technical Data and Cookies
Every page load can leave behind routine technical traces. That material keeps the pages running and shows how they get used. Expect it to include:
- Internet Protocol address.
- Browser name and version.
- Device type and operating system.
- Pages viewed and time spent on each page.
- The referring page, when one is supplied.
- Visit date and time stamps.
Cookie Choices
Cookies play a modest role here. They help show how visitors move through the pages and keep certain features working. Any browser can block or delete them. Block them, though, and a feature may act up or forget a saved choice.
How the Information Is Used
Whatever gets collected serves the ordinary needs of running the service. None of it builds or maintains Calhoun County Jail records. Typical uses:
- Keeping the pages available, secure, and responsive.
- Sending a search request to the appropriate partner service.
- Measuring which pages are useful to visitors.
- Finding faults and improving technical performance.
- Displaying advertising that may be relevant to a visitor.
Links Beyond This Service
Reference pages point outward to a wide range of sources. A few examples: Sheriff Zach Hardin's Calhoun County Sheriff's Office, the county's FOIA instructions, and a general county site map. Others include the Judici court portal and the IDOC offender search. The Bureau of Prisons, ICE, and other search tools round out the list. Leave these pages and a different set of rules takes over. The destination's own privacy policy controls from that point on.
Advertising partners deserve a mention too. Some track activity across many websites to feed interest-based ads. That tracking happens on their systems, not in any Calhoun County Sheriff or jail records setup. This reference service has no hand in it.
Who May Receive Data
Nobody's personal data is sold here. That said, a few groups can still access it when their role genuinely calls for it:
- Search partners that process a submitted query.
- Analytics providers that measure page use.
- Advertising networks that deliver or measure ads.
- Law-enforcement or government bodies acting under a valid legal order.
Reasonable Security Efforts
Standard safeguards protect the information this service holds. Full security is another matter. No internet-connected system can honestly promise it. A breach, an attack, or a failure beyond reasonable control could still expose data. No guarantee is offered against that.
Visitors Under 18
This service is built for adults. It does not knowingly gather information from anyone under 18. Sometimes a minor sends personal details anyway. A parent or guardian can ask that those details be removed. Just use Contact Us to make the request.
Your Privacy Choices
Privacy choices depend on the data involved. The applicable law matters too. A person may ask what this service holds about them. They can also put limits on certain uses. Send requests through Contact Us, and name the information or activity in question so it can be handled properly.
- Ask for a copy of personal data held about you.
- Ask that inaccurate information be corrected.
- Request deletion of information that can lawfully be erased.
- Opt out of selected processing, where that option applies.
Changes to This Notice
Practices evolve over time. The service, technology, and legal requirements can all shift. When they do, this notice may shift with them. Any revision gets posted right here with a new effective date. Keep using the site after an update, and the revised practices govern from that date forward.
